Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has requested teachers to cooperate with a verification agency that has been contracted by Ministry of Education(MOE) to get the feedback on Secondary Education Quality Improvement Programme (SEQIP) implementation.
SEQIP is a programme that aims at improving the transition from primary to secondary school and also enhancing retention of learners in school. This programme is run jointly by Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and MOE among other stakeholders and is going on in 31 counties in Kenya.
In a bid to get feedback, the teachers’ employers has urged teachers to work jointly with the agency that has been tasked. The process of getting feedback will be done through phone calls.
“To get the feedback on SEQIP implementation, MOE has contracted a verification agency that is doing a survey on key stakeholders who include teachers through phone calls. Please cooperate with this agency by providing them with the information that they are seeking through their calls. These callers always introduce themselves adequately,” said Beatrice Wababu who is the Head of Corporate Affairs in TSC.
Unpaid Allowances
However, as the the commission seeks to get feedback on the progress of the implementation of SEQIP, details have emerged that teachers who were trained on School Based Teacher Support System (SBTSS), have not received their allowances.
Most of teachers of English and Literature are yet to receive their allowances despite having participated in the training earlier this year, before the pandemic took a heavy toll on education sector.
The School Based Teacher Support System (SBTSS) which improves teacher delivery capacity is a component of SEQIP that is run by TSC.
