According to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Kenya, over 16,000 teachers have got to TSC promotions list this year based on career progression guidelines and other criteria such as regional balance, gender equity, and affirmative action for Arid and Semi-Arid Lands counties
The promoted teachers will fill vacancies for Deputy Principals I and II, Senior Master IV in secondary schools, and Head Teachers and Deputy Head Teachers II in primary schools.
The promotions were equitably distributed across the regions, with Kiambu County having the highest number of promoted teachers, followed by Kisii and Kakamega .
The Commission has set guidelines for the number of administrators schools should have due to a shortage of Deputy School Heads, Senior Teachers, and Masters.
Additionally, teachers who have served in acting roles will be given priority during promotions.

TSC boss wrote a report about the medical benefits, jobs, promotions, and transfers of the teachers who were causing trouble while appearing before the cohesion Committee of Senate.
A paper from the TSC says that 6,214 teachers will move up one level and 5,436 teachers will move up two levels, from grade B5 (Primary Teacher I) to grade C1 (Primary Teacher II).
In keeping with Regulation 74 of the CORT (Code of Regulations for Teachers), the commission will promote a total of 11,258 teachers in the common cadre promotions for the fiscal year 2022-2023, according to Dr. Macharia’s report, as long as the budget allows it.
CATEGORIES OF PROMOTION FOR TEACHERS
The next TSC promotion interviews will lead to the promotion of 551 teachers overall.
The most promotion spots are at Kakamega, according to the data. 36 people will move from C1 to C2, 288 people will move from C1 to C5, and 227 people will move from C1 to C5.
Garissa County will move 21 teachers from B5 to C1, from C1 to C2, and from C2 to C3.
Because of this, the commission plans to promote 10.021 more teachers through affirmative action in places with a shortage of teachers and 13.717 more teachers through a competitive promotion during the FY.
The commission did say, though, that it had found 7,282 teachers working in primary schools who were prepared to move to junior secondary schools (JSS).
Both a diploma in education and a bachelor’s degree in education are needed, as well as a minimum mean score of C+ on the KCSE or its equivalent. a grade of at least C+ and at least 8 units in each of the two teaching classes (plus).
Dr. Macharia says that since 2019, the commission has promoted and moved primary school teachers to high schools to make up for the lack of teachers there.
