The Teachers Service Commission is inviting applications for teacher internship positions in public primary and junior secondary schools.

These vacancies aim to support the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum.

Interested and qualified candidates are encouraged to apply online through the Commission’s website or the teachersonline.tsc.go.ke portal.

I. JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHER INTERN

Minimum Requirements:

To be eligible for recruitment as a junior secondary school teacher intern, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  1. Kenyan citizenship
  2. Hold a diploma in education with a minimum mean Grade of C+ (plus) in KCSE or its equivalent
  3. Attain a C+ (plus) grade in two teaching subjects in KCSE or its equivalent
  4. Be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission

Note:

a) For equivalent qualifications, applicants are advised to visit the Teachers Service Commission’s website.

b) Teachers from TVET institutions are encouraged to apply.

II. PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER INTERNS click here to apply

Minimum Requirements:

To be eligible for recruitment as a primary school teacher intern, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  1. Kenyan citizenship
  2. Hold a PI Certificate
  3. Be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission

Note: Teachers with an Upgrade Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (CBC) will have an added advantage.

General Information:

  • Manual applications will not be considered.
  • The Commission’s Guidelines for Recruitment of Teacher Interns for the 2023–2024 Financial Year shall apply.
  • Candidates must be unemployed and should not have previously worked for the Commission as an intern or on a permanent, pensionable basis.
  • Original academic and professional certificates must be presented during the application process.
  • Successful candidates must have Personal Accident Insurance to cover personal risks during the internship period.
  • The selection of candidates will be based on merit and the number of vacancies per county.
  • Successful candidates should not accept more than one internship slot.
  • Interns will be assigned to primary or junior secondary schools within the county where they were interviewed or to any other part of the country with available vacancies.
  • Junior Secondary School interns will be required to teach various learning areas under the Junior Secondary Curriculum.
  • Verification of documents will be conducted, and applicants must produce the necessary certificates and identification documents.
  • The Teacher Internship Program is a one-year program aimed at equipping and sustaining the competencies of individuals entering the teaching service.
  • The internship period will last for twelve (12) months.

Monthly Stipend for Teacher Interns:

  • Primary school teacher interns will be eligible for a monthly stipend of Kshs. 15,000/=.
  • Junior secondary school teacher interns will be eligible for a monthly stipend of Kshs. 20,000.
  • Stipends will be paid subject to statutory deductions, where applicable.

Internship Certificate:

Upon successful completion of the Internship program, teacher interns will be awarded a certificate.
