The teachers service commission TSC gave teachers freedom to choose and register in one of the two unions. The two unions are; the Kenya National Union of Teachers KNUT and the Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers KUPPET. Mr Collins Oyuu is the leader of kenya National union of teachers KNUT while Akello Misori is in charge of Kenya Union of post primary teachers KUPPET.

Recently Teachers were deducted some amount of money in the August salaries which was said that it was taken to KNUT union. A number of Teachers felt sad since the deductions reduced their salaries.

The Teachers Service Commission gave out freedom to all Teachers who are willing to leave the unions to do so. Teachers who are members of Kenya Union of post primary teachers KUPPET union are now experiencing a challenge after the Labour Cabinet secretary Simon Chelungui revealed that KUPPET will continue collecting a 300 shillings fee from it’s members monthly
