DP Ruto Accused Of Smuggling Sophisticated weapons Into the Country From Uganda

The Secretary General of the Central Organization for Trade Unions (COTU), Francis Atwoli, on Saturday, 7 August, asked security officials at the Kenya-Uganda border to be more vigilant by monitoring the movement of goods into the country.

The deputy secretary general of COTU, speaking during the burial of Atwoli’s wife, Tabitha Atieno, accused Vice President William Ruto of smuggling weapons from the neighboring country.

Atwoli questioned why DP was leaving the country without the approval of his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Vice President William Ruto speaks at a burial in Chony, Kilifi County on July 17, 2021.

“We will not allow Kenyans to **** each other. All these things you are hearing about Uganda. Security agents should be vigilant and check imports at the Kenya-Uganda border, all containers because Some are carrying weapons,” Atvoli said.

Weapons are being brought into the country and I am ready to write a statement on that.

On 19 July, Atvoli made similar allegations, saying that the vice president was preparing to cause civil unrest if he lost the 2022 presidential elections, in which he (Ruto) had expressed interest in participating.

DP has been on the spot since being stopped from traveling to Uganda on Monday, 2 August.

He has since indicated that he was barred from leaving the country because of leadership differences between him and his pro-presidential Uhuru Kenyatta allies.

During the burial, Atvoli also insisted that Sia Senator James Orengo, who was part of the defense team in the BBI bill appeal, had won regardless of the outcome, although the matter was not ruled by the court.

He said it would be suspicious if Orango lost a case.

“If Orango loses a case, don’t bother looking for another lawyer. The High Court decision was political, it was not about the BBI. I am sure the Court of Appeal will make the right decision,” he continued.

The Court of Appeal will deliver its verdict on the Building Bridge Initiative (BBI) appeal case on August 20, 2021.
