CS Magoha Extends Form one Admission Period

The Ministry of Education under Cabinet Secretary, George Magoha has extended the Form One reporting period by one week.

Parents will have time till Friday, August 13 to enroll their children in their respective schools.

Paul Kibet, director of the ministry’s secondary schools, issued the directive on Saturday, August 7.

Magoha began the Form One selection exercise at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) in June 2021, setting the reporting date between August 2 and August 6.

The CS stressed that all students who sit the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) will transition to secondary school.

“I would like to assure the nation that the ministry has audited all the new and existing vacancies in all our private and public schools so that we can admit all the learners under the free secondary school programme,” Magoha said.

“We are determined to work with relevant agencies to ensure that no candidate misses out on a secondary school place.”

Of the 1,179,192 students who sat for the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam, around 889,011 out of a possible 500 scored below 300 marks.

Magoha announced that this year 585,942 girls will appear in Form One as against 585,323 boys.

53,000 candidates applied for the Elimu Scholarship Program under the Ministry of Education.

“We have strictly implemented the principles of equity, fairness, merit, transparency, inclusivity and affirmative action in Form One selection and this is the reason why placements have taken longer time,” explained Magoha.
