BOM TEACHERS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO BE PAID SALARIES BEGINNING NEXT WEEK.
The BOM teachers can now have something to smile about after the Covid-19 management Board chaired by CS Prof. Magoha at KICD today passed a resolution for their payment.
These teachers have suffered and this new development will cone as a big relief for them. SG Akello Misori, the Kuppet Secretary General and Dr. Nancy Macharia put up a strong case for them. Wilson Sossion also supported the motion and the whole board adopted the resolution paving the way for immediate payment.
Quoting Education CAS Zackary Kinuthia’s speech last week the publication further noted that the stipend was aimed at sustaining the teachers who have so far gone for months without pay.
“As government, we have heard their cries. I want to assure them something will be done.
“We expect whatever the Government will do on this matter, the BoM will consider not just the BoM teachers but also the rest of the BoM staff such as cooks, matrons and even watchmen,” stated Kinuthia.
He further noted that the situation had grown dire for the tutors as they depended on the management for their daily bread.
CS Magoha has promised to fast track the payment of the salaries without further delay. It is not clear whether they will be paid in arrears but as they say, something is better than nothing.
