Mp Babu Owino insists to check the set Knec examination papers to verify them

The Member of Parliament for embakasi east has insisted to check and hence verify if the set KCSE and KCPE papers have been set to what the 2020 candidates have covered.

This comes as the Covid-19 pandemic has deepened its roots in the country. In the recent past, parents, teachers, and students have been wishing that the Knec examination will be postponed. Only for the CS education to come out and announce that the examination is scheduled to be taken as earlier planned.

Last week the president of the republic also confirmed that the examination should be done at the set time. KUPPET came out recently to request that candidates should be back to school by June to continue with syllabus coverage and handle there revisions in the stipulated time.

The Mp who seems to be against the examination scheduled at the end of the year, has hence said that he has all the academic qualification not only to verify exams but also to even set the examination.

He has also  given out a detailed guideline on how this year’s national exams should be conducted.

The vocal ODM politician said Education CS George Magoha must submit the exams to his office in his capacity as the secretary general for young parliamentarians for verification before they are rolled out. “As the secretary general for young parliamentarians, the education CS George Magoha must submit the papers to me in advance so that I can verify if they have tested what has not been taught,” he said.

Asked on how exactly he will verify the exams, the first  time MP said he is a one learned man with two degrees, two masters degrees and who passed highly in both primary school and high school.

“I have gone through school and passed highly, I went to university and studied actuarial science and law, I have two masters degrees in both law and actuarial science, I scored 403 marks in KCPE, so I am overqualified in verifying exams and in fact I can even set them,” he said.

The exams are usually in the month of November but the uncertainty over the Corona virus pandemic has led to speculations that the exams may be postponed.
