TSC Communication Director Confirms the plan to Recruit 15,000 Teachers; Details

Teachers Service Commission, TSC is priming itself to conduct mass recruitment of teachers in the coming July. When asked about the rumours circulating online about the looming July teachers employment exercise, the Head of Corporate Communication at the Teachers Service Commission did not deny the rumour.

The director seemed to imply that plans are underway to solve the shortage of teachers in secondary and primary schools ahead of form one admission early next term.

Earlier the government had announced that it would hire 5,000 teachers this year to address the 100% transition and the other remaining ten thousand in the next two years, 5,000 yearly. The TSC is awaiting allocation in the 2021 financial year for recruitment as soon as early July before the inclusion of first-form students.

Most schools especially secondary will undoubtedly welcome the move warmly as it seeks to improve the teacher-student ratio in public schools. Also it’s a boost to many teachers despite being registered by the commission continue their long await for employment.
According to Teachers Service Commission statistics, there are over 330,000 jobless trained and registered tutors in the country as per the beginning of of the year.
