Thousands of primary school head teachers are afraid that they will not meet the February 10thdeadline to register candidates for KCPE this year due to hiccups experienced with Nemis registration.
Speaking to Teachers Arena some heads expressed their frustrations over Nemis registration which is mandatory for all class 8 pupils who will sit for the national exams in November.
“Since last week I have been visiting this place but Nemis registration for my sixty eight candidates has not been successful because the system is not working yet I can’t register them for KCPE this year till they have UPI numbers. If possible the ministry should allow us to register the pupils for the exams because the deadline is approaching and the Nemis system is not working.” Said Murray a head teacher in Kilifi County whom we met in a Cyber café.
The Education CS Professorm Magoha had resorted to manual counting of learners in both primary and secondary schools last month and this had given some school heads that the Nemis registration will be abandoned due to technical problems experienced with the system. Instead the Nemis registration has been made mandatory for them to register candidates for KCPE exams.
Most head teachers are still hopeful that the deadline will be extended and the Nemis system will be improved.
