Man shares his inspiring story of how banks auctioned his property after running bankrupt
James a business man in Nairobi who had been doing the car selling business had been having several car yards in town. Since the covid thing came his business has been largely affected as the car sales he was making when things were okay differed on a large margin with what he was getting during this period when covid was declared a disasters. His business mostly depended on loans and only a few cars he got money from his pocket. He had been hoping for things to be okay with time but as days went by/things were even more worse as he alerted with the banks he had borrowed their money that he needed to service his loans.
This went for a long time as he had to inform them due to the strict conditions his business had been so much affected by the covid 19 wave but none of his lenders wanted to hear such stories at any particular time. ” I was a so much worried business person as people I had been borrowing money from including banks had been threatening to take my property which would enable them to pay back their money including the profit something that I was so much scared off,”he said. With months of covid 19 running rampage in the country things did not change for James and other business persons as really they had been affected largely with the restrictions.
The first thing he did was to reduce all his employees salaries and even sacking some to help him reduce the cost which he would use to run his several car yards. Time was really running and he had not gotten the money to pay back his bank loans and they kept reminding him of the due action they would take if things went amiss In terms of paying their loans. There was nowhere else he would have borrowed money to pay back his existing loans as everyone had been affected with the situation. With time the bank auctioned three of his five car yards in Nairobi something he says really affected his mental state as he even was considering ways he would use to kill himself.
