This is a national girls boarding secondary school located in Limuru constituency, Kiambu county, Kenya. The school was established in 1922 by the Arnold Butler McDonell for Evelyn Mitchell and 3 of his other daughters and any other people who might join on his farm. It first started as a junior school called Hill Preparatory School.

It was a mixed school but in the beginning, most of the girls continued with their education in England. The boys were day scholars. The students sat their first their first O- level exams in 1938 and their first A- level exams in 1952. The school is currently under the Anglican Church of Kenya, the Diocese of Mount Kenya South sponsorship.

This school is located in Karambaini sub location, Limuru division, Kiambu district in Limuru constituency, Kiambu county, Kenya. The school is located in Tigoni about 29km from Nairobi city along the Nairobi-Banana- Limuru road. It sits on a 60 acre piece of land. Neighboring schools include Summer Springs secondary school, Tigoni Baptist Primary school, St.Thomas schools Tigoni, Green Valley International School and Tigoni Primary school.

Limuru Girls High School KCSE performance;

The school is known for doing so well in both local and national examinations.

The school has maintained a good run in performance at the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC, exams. In the 2018 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, exams the school registered a total of 217 candidates who managed to score a mean of a B+ (plus) with a performance index of 70.536. In 2019, the school had a total candidature of 303 students
