The ministry of education is working around the clock in preparation for the 2023 intake when the pioneers of the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) will be joining junior secondary schools.
The government through the ministry of education has started the construction of over 7000 new schools countrywide for junior secondary schools.
Once the 7000 new schools are completed, TSC wi promote 7000 teachers who qualify to head these new institutions.
This follows after the directive from President Uhuru Kenyatta during mashujaa day celebrations Kirinyaga. The ministry of education has already identified Counties that need extra schools and construction has started.
Kakamega county has been given a lion share of new schools 353 whereby a total of 597 Classrooms will be Constructed, followed by Homabay which has been given 512 classrooms to be built in 293. new schools.
Others counties that have needed to allocate the higher numbers of new schools include Bomet (306 Classrooms) in 232 new Schools.
The president had also given express instructions that all contractors for the classrooms will be sourced from the neighbourhood.
