Statement from the P.T.A Board Chairperson.
Butere Girls’ parents have found a safe abode where our children’s future is moulded under experienced hands.
During my tenure, my team has been able to accomplish the following:

-Admit the first batch of National school Form 1 students in 2013 that represent the face of Kenya.
-Completed payments to the school generator and school van.
– Initiated the construction of the stalled library.
– Supported the school administration and improved the school mean from 8.315 to 8.456.
-Improved university intake from 133 in 2012 to 147 in 2013.

            School’s History.

The Butere Girls’ High School is a public National School located off the Kakamega-Bukura Butere Road in Butere Constituency of Kakamega County.

Its one of the oldest institutions in Western Kenya that was founded by Miss Chadwick of the Church Missionary Society in 1916.The initial areas of teaching and training included; reading, writing, singing, and sculpture.
A day school commenced in 1931 and graduated into a boarding institution of 36 boarders in 1937.The secondary section started in 1957.In 1970, the first “A” level class was admitted with Chadwick Teachers College founded and attached to the same school in 1973.The Science Class started in 1987.
The school is currently six streamed from form two to four but form one is even streamed. It became a National school in 2012. Butere Girls High School is strategically situated in Butere Sub County in Kakamega County. The school currently attracts students from the entire republic of Kenya and its  environs
