A Nairobi man says he was not able to pay rent after he got sacked, he would sleep in cheap lodgings but now has established his business
Kizito a 33 year old man had been working for a private company which dealt with marketing and sales at the Kenyan capital. After a new boss took over the company, he was among other three who got sacked. He says life since then was really difficult as he even was not able to afford his rent arrears. He would sell anything in his house to be able to have something to put in his stomach. After sometimes he was chased from the house he was living in due to high rent arrears he had not settled and now he had nowhere to live. As he said, he would look for cheap lodgings in Nairobi where he would spent much of his night.
“This was the most hardest life I had ever lived. At times I would even sleep in parked and abandoned vehicles just to see the following day. My wife was not ready to live such a life and so she went back to her parents,” he told our source. As he said at times he would even sleep in rooms where prostitution was taking place. At this time he developed some good relationship with prostitutes which would at times offer him free sleeping places as life had really pushed him to the toughest corner as he lamented.
With time he got a job in a certain garage as a handy man. He was luckily offered even accommodation. He would save the little money he could.
