Good news to Teachers as MPs Finally approve their pay Rise

Teachers across the country should be a happy lot as Members of Parliament have finally come to their rescue. The Members of Parliament have passed a motion that have allocated teachers’ pay rise of 11billion shillings. These money will go for a salary increment and recruitment of 5000 teachers on permanent and pensionable basis. Another portion will go towards the recruitment of 10000 teachers on internship early next year.

The move was taken by the Parliament after the Teacher Service Commission (TSC) requested for more funds to recruit teachers next year. Because of 100% transition, more teachers are needed and therefore Dr. Nancy Macharia says that there is need to employ more teachers to cater for the same.
