Anne a hotel owner says her business had been affected covid 19 but still she had something to smile about
Covid 19 has really affected a lot of people in one way or the other. People have lost jobs and business have gone down due to the government restrictions and measures to reduce its infection. Anne had a hotel in Thika Kiambu County where most of the times she would depend on the influx of the people mainly the travelers that used the super-highway for transport but since the government put in some strict measures her business has been really down. She would have a large number of customers at her hotel before the outbreak but now only a few people show up in her hotel something she says it has affected her sales.
“When things were okay without the disease with us I would make a lot of money from my business as people would really crowd my business but now things are different as at times I have to close my hotel to adhere to the strict restrictions the government has put in place to cub the spread of covid,”she said. With the situation she had to reduce the number of worker in her business to reduce the wage bill she would be having yet the number of customers were scarce most of the times.
Many businesses similar to hers had been closed and people had either shifted to other businesses as really nothing was coming from them. Some people have even decide to make their hotels schools while others had made them to be rental apartments as really with the rise of daily infections the government has imposed some heavy measures which have affected the businesses. She said she had too been considering on closing her hotel. The money she had been getting in a day compared to this covid 19 time had been so much worrying her on how she would even pay her rental arrears.
